Exploring BiZNET

BGP could (sometimes) be very interesting! Agree ? Disagree ? :-D Well, okay, at least for some people, communities (Opisboy-ers, heh ?? :-D )

I'm currently not a BGP expert, but it's quite fun to to see what we can do with it. So here I just want to share a case I've dealed with yesterday : BiZNET (yes, PT. Supra ...). If you do expertise in BGP, please advise ! :-D

It seems that BiZNET buys some transit capacities from pak Meneer :-D (AS4657, by the way how many ASNs does REACH currently have??). But it's quite odd, that I failed to see direct connections between BiZNET and REACH. Could it happen that these are tunneled via third parties (say, AS4761 or AS7473) ??

BiZNET seems has direct (upstream?) connections with the following networks:

• AS9002 RETN (?)
• AS3356 Level3
• AS15412 FLAG
• AS29208 DIAL TELECOM (?)
  
• AS3491 PCCWGlobal
• AS10217 NTT
• AS23947 Moratel (upstream?? - strange!)
  
• AS4761 Indosat
• AS9505 TWGate
• AS7473 Singtel

In addition, seems that BiZNET has special relationships with AS4862 (EQUANT ASIA), AS7597 (IIX APJII) and AS38154 (PSN). But is there no relationship with AS7717 ?? It should be ...

Biznet (PT Supra Primatama Nusantara)

Biznet was founded 8 years ago. It has focused initially on providing Internet access for corporates and enterprises, mainly at central business districts in Jakarta. Meanwhile, Biznet offers a wide range of other networking services. Looking at several aspects, it seems that this company belongs to the bests in the business, even though it is likely run as a "Kusma" family-business ??, CMIIW.

As of Q3/2008 Biznet

• has completed their Jabodetabek rings (approx. 1,000 km); their initial plan was to deploy 500 km fiber rings
• connects 233 buildings in Java-Bali: 225 buildings in Jakarta, 1 building in Tangerang, 3 buildings in Bandung, 3 buildings in Surabaya (Intiland Tower, Bumi Mandiri, Graha Pacific) , 1 building in Bali
• operates 5 international PoPs: Singapore, Hongkong, Tokyo, London IX (LINX), Palo Alto IX (PAIX)

Additionally, they also offer intercity connections and publish network connectivity as displayed below. However, for me it is not completely clear, who owns the cable. It is unlikely that Biznet does. XL ?? ICON+ ?? Powertel ?? Regardless this issue, to offer services like Biznet does, it shall have access to the fiber core(s).
