Know P4P already ? I've just known it yesterday as I skimmed some new PTC material. Here are some quotes taken from Alan Mauldin's talk:
- Traditional P2P traffic connects peers randomly, regardless of geographic location or parent network
- P4P optimizes P2P traffic by connecting peers within the same ISP and those in close geographic proximity
- Field tests have proven promising
- Telefonica - percentage of P2P traffic that stayed within a metropolitan area went from 1% to 36% with P4P
- Verizon - percentage of P2P traffic that stayed within a metropolitan area went from 6% to 58% with P4P
- Verizon plans to roll out P4P during 2009
