This post is dedicated for Palapa Ring fans :-D . Project's current state based on
this report (12/03/2009) - citing the consortium's VIP Tonda Priyanto :
- The consortium is waiting proposal revisions from the vendors : Alcatel Lucent Submarine Networks, NEC Submarine, and NSW-Fujitsu;
- The vendors have offered solutions which cost around twice as much as previously predicted (more than USD 200mn ???)
- The consortium budget is further reduced due to IDR depreciation against USD (in the planning was 1 USD = 9 th. IDR; current state 1 USD = 11 to 12 th. IDR); totally around USD 30 mn (USD 180 mn --> USD 150 mn) quite a lot, right ?!
- Seems the project will further be delayed!
- Due to budget reasons, landing points could be reduced up to the half of those of the original plan
- Need conclusion ?? :-D --> Tonda said "there is currently no significant development!!"
